How Symplify collects, uses, and protects your personal data.

Short version: This site doesn't sell your data, doesn't use advertising cookies, and doesn't share your information with anyone except where necessary to run the booking system. You're in control.

1. Who we are

Symplify is a trading name of Jonny Symes, an AI consultant serving small businesses across the United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK data protection law, Jonny Symes is the data controller — the person responsible for how your personal data is used.

2. What personal data we collect and why

We only collect the information we actually need. Here's what that looks like in practice:

When you book a free audit

Bookings are made through Google Calendar Appointment Schedules. When you book, Google collects your name and email address so we can send you a confirmation and calendar invite. That data is stored within Google Calendar and is subject to Google's Privacy Policy. We receive your name and email as part of the booking notification.

When you email us

If you contact us directly at jonnysymes@gmail.com, we receive your name, email address, and any information you include in your message. We use this to respond to your enquiry and, if relevant, to provide the services you've asked about.

When you visit this website

This website does not collect any personal data directly. We do not run Google Analytics or any other tracking tool. No forms submit your data to our servers. The only thing stored on your device is a small entry in your browser's localStorage to remember whether you have acknowledged our cookie notice.

3. Legal basis for processing

Under UK GDPR, we need a lawful basis for processing personal data. We rely on:

  • Contract performance — processing your name and email to provide the services you've requested or are enquiring about
  • Legitimate interests — responding to enquiries and conducting the normal business activities of a consultancy
  • Consent — where you've explicitly given us your details to book a meeting or make contact

We do not use your data for marketing without your explicit consent.

4. How long we keep your data

  • Booking information — kept for the duration of our working relationship, plus a reasonable period afterwards (typically 12 months) in case of follow-up questions
  • Email correspondence — kept for as long as it is relevant to our business relationship, and deleted when no longer needed
  • Enquiries that don't lead to a project — typically deleted within 6 months

5. Who we share your data with

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We only share it where necessary:

  • Google — our calendar and email provider. Google processes booking data as a data processor under a Data Processing Agreement. See Google's Privacy Policy.

We do not use any advertising platforms, data brokers, or marketing tools that would receive your personal information.

6. Cookies and tracking

This website uses no tracking or advertising cookies. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any equivalent service.

The only thing stored on your device is a localStorage entry called symplify_cookie_consent that records whether you have seen and acknowledged our cookie notice. This is not a cookie — it cannot be read by third parties and is not sent to any server. You can clear it at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

Third-party images on this site are served from a CDN (cdn.openart.ai). Image CDNs may log your IP address as part of standard server logs, but do not set cookies or track you across the web.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the following rights in relation to your personal data:

Right of access

You can ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.

Right to rectification

You can ask us to correct inaccurate data or complete incomplete data.

Right to erasure

You can ask us to delete your personal data where there is no good reason for us to keep it.

Right to restrict processing

You can ask us to pause processing your data in certain circumstances.

Right to object

You can object to processing based on legitimate interests.

Right to portability

You can ask for your data in a machine-readable format where technically feasible.

8. The right to complain

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your personal data, you have the right to complain to the UK's data protection regulator, the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO).

We'd always prefer the chance to resolve any concern directly first — please get in touch with us before going to the ICO if possible.

9. Links to other websites

Our site contains links to external services — principally Google Calendar for booking. Once you leave our site, we're not responsible for the privacy practices of those services. We encourage you to read their privacy policies.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of the page will always reflect when it was last updated. We'll notify existing clients of any material changes by email.
